Contact and Respite

Contact and Respite

Arrangements can be made for OSMIS to provide a Contact / Respite Service. Staff undertake the supervision and observation of contact between young people who are the subject of care proceedings and family members.


The service can be provided between 2:30 pm and 8 pm on weekdays and 10 am to 6 pm on weekends. Arrangements can be flexible to take account of the needs of individuals. The contact session will take place in a fixed venue, Spaces Business Centre, G1 Building, Leeds Road, Sheffield, or can be activity based.


Our nurturing, relaxed environment offers children /young people a secure space. An array of activities are available in which to participate including arts and crafts, board games and computer stations. There are baking and cooking facilities on-site and a chill-out lounge. For extra stimulation, we have an amazing sensory room.


OSMIS staff will facilitate the session.  Staff will not seek to intervene in any interaction between participants unless she/he considers that it is necessary to do so; to ensure the safety of any person or safeguard property. OSMIS staff will not undertake assessments in relation to contact but will provide written and verbal feedback after each session.
